I am in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest land
is Bermuda, about 1400 miles away, and our next port, the island of Madeira,
Portugal, is 1500 miles away. I saw a ship today. And before that a plane. Other
than that, it’s just been clouds and water. It’s kind of peaceful though.
Big news if you haven’t already figured out: I am on my new
ship. I started in Florida a few days ago, and I’m on my way to Europe again!
Although this time, I’ll only be in the Mediterranean a little, and a majority
of the time in the Baltic and Fjords.
3 months. 15 countries. I’ll go to Spain, Portugal, Italy,
France, Rotterdam, Scotland, Germany, Norway, Helsinki, Copenhagen, St.
Petersburg, Estonia, and more! Everyone on the ship here is really nice so far,
and I actually know a bunch of people already from my two previous ships, which
is great because I already have friends here!
Since we’ve left I haven’t actually gotten too bored. I’ve
been keeping busy with meeting new people, writing music, occasionally playing
by the pool. We’ve been lucky to have nice weather so far so I’ve been gettin
my tan on! Also, every other day we’ve had to push our clocks ahead an hour so
we can catch up to the time zone when we get to Portugal. However this happens
in the afternoon at 2pm when our cruise director cleverly says over the
loudspeakers: “Roses are red, oceans are blue. It is now 3, when before it was
2.”

(PS. I actually wrote this a week ago, meaning to post it
online Saturday night, but since we were in the middle of the ocean we didn’t
get any reception from the satellites, so I could only post this until now. But
I have to say, the ocean is beautiful out here. Everyday it looks different and
has the coolest looking waves. Long and flowing ones, very calm ripples, the
sun glistening off them, big white waves.)
More updates to follow soon!
